The only thing that travels is the model coming down — your photo never leaves the tab, and the source code is public so this can be checked rather than believed.
When this is what you need
Visa portals, universities and banks state a limit in megabytes and refuse the upload without saying which file broke it. The usual culprit is a scan photographed at full camera resolution.
